London, October 23 2014: Ensygnia, the mobile identity and payments innovator backed by Telefonica, today announced it is joining BBC Worldwide Labs as a start-up in residence. The six month residency will see Ensygnia and BBC Worldwide's e-commerce teams come together to enable the delivery of next generation payment experiences across a number of BBCW's direct to consumer propositions.
Ensygnia has been offered this opportunity to enter the BBC Worldwide Labs to enable BBC Worldwide's e-commerce team to pilot with its Onescan mobile payment technology. This also furthers BBC Worldwide Labs' commitment to supporting promising, early stage digital media companies who are ready for the next stage of growth.
Ensygnia's Chief Business Development Officer, Christian Toksvig, will lead the Ensygnia team within BBC Worldwide Labs. He said: "Ensygnia’s business is a secure transaction platform focusing on the markets of identity, loyalty and, of course, payments."
"The combination of our Onescan mobile app and the secure Ensygnia server means we can design advanced services around payments, access, authority and authentication. We’ll be working with BBC Worldwide Labs to explore the opportunities in those and other areas," added Toksvig.
Hannah Blake, BBC Worldwide Labs' Programme Manager welcomed Ensygnia into the facility, and said: "We see great potential in the Ensygnia platform and the Onescan app and we're excited to be working closely with them at BBC Worldwide across our e-commerce activities."
